RAISA Minority Workshops

  In 2024, RAISA team implemented minority workshops in collaboration with Minority Affair Institute (MAI).  RAISA partners organizations such as Thet Youth Development Organization, Minority Education and Democracy Organization, Akha Ethnic Union, Spring Revolution Interfaith Network, Arakan Gender and Development Society and other Rohingya civil society organizations joined these workshops and shared their insights in the training. Workshops focused on minority rights, social cohesion and transitional justice. The Minority Affair Institute director facilitated discussion on minority rights and RAISA trainer facilitated social cohesion and opportunity for building social cohesion during the transition period. The Asia Justice and Rights organization team facilitated tran sitional justice concepts and principles for one day. RAISA Networking Events

 Networking and Building Solidarity Among Minorities  RAISA has implemented more than 20 networking meetings between Rohingya youths from Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and India to share the ground situation of Rohingya in Southeast Asia and to increase awareness over the conflict related situation in Myanmar Rakhine state.  Our community partners share their work and ongoing human rights violation in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Through these community meetings, Rohingya youths were able to learn Myanmar political landscape and forms network to share opportunities for youths education. RAISA Human Rights and Media Research

RAISA team implemented human rights documentation and media monitoring for 8 months in 2024. RAISA volunteers from Northern and Central Rakhine together with volunteers from Bangladesh documented ongoing human rights violations and monitor both mainstream and social media accounts of portrayal on Rohingya related issues. We systematically collect both primary and secondary data through the project period and produce 8 monthly reports.  The executive summary of our findings are as followings:  Key findings from media monitoring include: 1. Media monitoring reveals limited coverage of human rights violations against Rohingya. Attacks on Rohingya, as well as violations such as forced displacement and forced recruitment, are underreported or dismissed.
